The three formats

Decimal
The total return per unit staked, stake included. A price of 2.50 returns 2.50 for every 1 staked.
Fractional
The profit per unit staked. 6/4 means 6 profit for every 4 staked, the same as decimal 2.50.
American
Positive numbers show the profit on a 100 stake (+150); negative numbers show the stake needed to win 100 (−200).
Implied probability
1 ÷ decimal price. A price of 2.50 implies 40%.

Formulas

decimal = 1 + numerator ÷ denominator

decimal = 1 + American ÷ 100 (American ≥ +100)

decimal = 1 + 100 ÷ |American| (American ≤ −100)

Fractions follow the conventional ladder bookmakers use (for example 11/10 rather than 21/19), so a converted fraction may be rounded slightly.
